5K Trail Run Results

Woo Hoo!  I had a great race today.  It was a 5K trail run from the Seacoast Science Center along the beach and through the trails at Odiorne State Park.  The park is right on the beach.  As a matter of fact there are still bunkers (overgrown with grass and foliage) where they military personnel and weapons were stored during World War II as part of the  coastal defenses that protected Portsmouth Harbor and the naval shipyard.   And yes, we ran up (and back down) these man made hills!

Not only was I very happy with my time: 25:54 (8:21 pace), but I came in 3rd in my age group!  The last time I did this race my time was 29:42.  Of course that was 2 years ago, before I started running more regularly.

This running season is shaping up nicely.  I’ve been getting in my training runs, and my running buddy and I have been doing speed work once a week.  Her husband has taken on the role of coach and it certainly has made a difference.  A few weeks ago, I ran a 5K road race in 24:11 — 7:48 pace!  I haven’t come close to that in ages!!

For all you runners out there, do you know about the website Athlinks?  http://www.athlinks.com/  You just put in your name and all the races in which you have run pop up!  You click on them to add them to your profile and you have a record of all your races and times.  It is a great site!  You can even link with other runners.

Happy Trails!
