A St. Patrick’s Day Run

Sunday is the annual St. Paddy’s Day 5 Miler.  It’s a fun  race that ends with a free beer (in a great beer glass that we get to keep) for all participants over 21 (I qualify!).

People are dressed up, and it is a fun way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day — my birthday!!!

Last year I ran this race with virtually no training through the winter, and it was brutal.  Every little knoll felt like Heartbreak Hill!  But this year, I am ready (sort of).  I have been running twice a week for a month or so, either outside or on the treadmill.  I ran a 5K last week, and this week I got in a 6 mile run, and ran 4 miles yesterday on the treadmill.

I even have a cute green headband with a leprechaun hat on it!

I don’t have any lofty goals for this race as it is still early in the season (very early, it snowed yesterday and it is currently only 11 degrees out), but I want to run it strong and finish close to 47 minutes (under 9 1/2 minute/mile pace).

Wish me luck!

  1. Sounds like a fun way to enjoy St. Patrick’s day. Love the headband. Wow you run 6 miles. With the weather the East Coast has been having you can’t even take a walk outside. Good luck in the race.

  2. That headband is to die for! I want one!
    I bet you had a blast :)
