Tires, Moguls, Cities and Bathing Suits…

Finish This #7

Welcome to Week 7 of Finish This! a weekly link-up hosted by Nicole (Three 31), Lisa (The Coastal Chicster), Jen (The Arizona Russums), and Becky (The Java Mama).  If you’re a blogger, join in and add your post to the link-up below. If you don’t have a blog, you can answer the prompts in a comment. Next week’s prompts are provided at the bottom of this post. Let’s get started!

1. I plan on buying…

Uggh, I am still recovering from all the shopping I did at Christmas-time.  I don’t think I plan on buying anything for quite a while…oh but I’m sure I will.  Let’s start a shopping list now — I will need some spring clothes (if it ever stops snowing!), and definitely a new purse.  I haven’t found a new one I’ve liked in quite a while.  The last 2 I bought I ended up giving to my daughter!  Oh yes, I will need to buy new tires.  When I had my snow tires put on, the mechanic told me that he couldn’t put my regular tires back on as they were getting too worn.

I give ____ five stars because
The Olympic athletes because they are so focused and determined, and the best at what they do.  They are an inspiration for all of us and a reminder that hard work and perseverance pays off!

I was watching the mogul competition and one of the announcers mentioned that Hannah Kearney had done thousands and thousands of squats during her training.  That motivated me to get to the gym and do some squats in preparation for my ski trip last weekend.  Halfway through my first run I realized that I didn’t do nearly enough squats!

3. I felt courageous when

This is silly, but I feel courageous when I go into a city by myself and find my way around.  I am really not a big traveler and I get nervous about going somewhere I haven’t been.  Plus when I use public transportation, I am always thinking of the timetables and tense about making sure I don’t miss my train/subway/bus.  So when I do travel to a city by myself (usually for work), I feel very courageous (and a little proud of myself for doing it!)

4. I feel about swimsuit shopping like I do
Haha, no one likes swimsuit shopping, especially because in order to get a good selection, we have to try them on in early Spring when we are paler than a ghost!  Couple that with the greenish glow of the dressing room fluorescent lights and your underwear sticking out of the bottoms, it is not a pretty sight!  Not to mention, unless you bring 8 or 10 suits into the dressing room with you, the constant getting dressed to go out and get different styles and sizes is tiresome.

I must admit that I only buy one really good (i.e.: expensive) bathing suit every 2 years or so.  I don’t get an opportunity to wear them a lot, so they tend to last, and over the years I have built up a good collection. This year I will most likely get a new one and I wouldn’t say I feel anxious (like going to the dentist) about swimsuit shopping .  After this winter, it will be exciting to get into a bathing suits as it will be sign that summer is indeed going to come!

Feel free to join in!  Answer these prompts in a post on your own blog or, if you do not have a blog, simply add your responses in a comment. Join us next Wednesday for another round of Finish This where we’ll answer the prompt below!

Prompt for WEEK #8 (Feb 26) is:
Five Things I Know For Sure

Comments

  1. I totally agree about the Olympic athletes, they are amazing and oh-so-talented. I get really super-duper-uber-excited for the summer and winter games. But I hate the time difference and having to avoid social media and news programs so they don’t spoil the results for me!!!!

    • Oh, I totally hate the time difference. When they are live, we see them as they happen, but on the time delay you KNOW they leave the popular ones for last and then the gold medal performances they air at 11:00!! But this year I’ve DVRed them and watch the next morning!

  2. We are loving the Olympics at our house, as well.

  3. I’m not much of a traveler either and am so proud of myself if I don’t get lost and make it somewhere in one piece 🙂
