A run along Ocean Avenue just has to be Good!

Still on vacation, today I ran around Kennebunkport, Maine. I started along the river and ran toward the mouth of the harbor; then along the ocean. I passed Walker’s Point and the home of George H. W. Bush — what a spectacular piece of land jutting out into the Ocean.

I continued on Ocean Ave as it turned into Shore Rd (just as good a name for a road), past beautiful homes, inns, and gardens. The flowers were spectacular. Lots of wild roses and lilies. Eventually the road turned inland and I ran through the cute village of Kennebunkport.

It was another breathtaking run! In case you are ever in the area, the almost 5 mile route is outlined here:

  1. I’m admittedly horrible about running while on vacation! I did run along The Battery while in Charleston and that was amazing. As always, your example offers a bit of inspiration.

    • Yeah, up until very recently I would simply take my shorts and sneakers on vacation with me and never touch them! I’d just look at them and feel guilty.

  2. I would love to visit Maine! Would consider running all the way up there if it wouldn’t take so long. Glad you had a good trip.

    • I wanted to see how long it would be so I checked out your blog as well. New Jersey! I visit there regularly as I have family in NJ. One of my most favorite runs is along the boardwalk in Spring Lake. Maybe I’ll see you there!

  3. I love that area. I am a walker and you can’t beat the views as you walk along the shoreline. It has been a while since I have been to that area and your post makes want to visit again soon. 🙂

  4. Yay!! I know exactly where you are talking about. My son used to live there. I haven’t ran since I did a 5K about 3 years ago. Almost everyday tell myself I need to get back to it.

    • I took about 3-4 years off from 2007-2010. It was hard to get back into it, but I joined a running group that was training for a 10K, that really helped me get back into the swing of things. No pressure, lots of encouragement! Usually you can find a training group through a local running store!

  5. I am not a runner. I am a walker. Sounds like a lovely area. 🙂

  6. Oh, how I envy you on the scenery you must get to see!! I love the ocean and anytime I’ve been able to run along the ocean, I’ve totally enjoyed it–it really takes the mind away from being tired or anything.

  7. It is beautiful. It is really really hot in Toronto too.

  8. Sounds like a fantastic run – what a beautiful place. Keep it up.
